Flörsch For Full ELMS Season With G-Drive Racing

G-Drive Racing will see Roman Rusinov joining forces with Sophia Flörsch for the 2022 European Le Mans Series as the team aims to claim a record fourth LMP2 championship crown. The team’s third driver will be announced at a later date.

The #53 Oreca 07 joins a 17 car LMP2 grid with Sophia Flörsch joins the team following a strong season in the FIA World Endurance Championship in the Richard Mille Racing Team LMP2 effort and a guest appearance in the European Le Mans Series finale in 2021 with G-Drive’s partner team Algarve Pro Racing, which yielded a podium finish overall.

Alongside the push for another ELMS crown, G-Drive Racing will also seek an entry for the 90th running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans for Rusinov and Flörsch, adding to the previously announced FIA World Endurance Championship entry for the Russian-flagged effort.

Roman Rusinov: “It will be a very busy season! Unlike in the FIA WEC, where I will focus on team management, I will not only manage the team in the ELMS but also drive our car. I love challenges, so I’m looking forward to the start of this season! Every year the championship gets stronger so getting another title will not be easy. That’s why I am so glad we have Sophia on board. It will be a strong line-up. She has shown great speed and was very impressive in last year’s FIA WEC season and has everything she needs to become a star in prototype racing. I know she had quite a few teams chasing her, so we are very glad she is on board our car.”

Sophia Flörsch: “I’m really excited to join G-Drive Racing for the 2022 ELMS season, alongside two really strong teammates. It has been clear from the first conversation that the focus for the team is to win races and a championship and I’m going to work hard to try and help the team achieve this!

“Obviously, our goal is to also join the field in Le Mans and show our best there too. LMP2 is such a highly competitive class now, with all the excitement around HyperCar and LMDh, so many top professionals are competing to show the manufacturers that they deserve a shot with them and I’m looking forward to seeing how I stack up.”
