Sellelagh Racing Team (SRT) is one of the longest surviving GT squads still in operation having initially competed with Corvette in the FIA GT and GT1 World Championships, for some years now they have fielded AMG machinery in GT4 competition..
And that staying power is set to continue into and through 2022 with SRT back in the GT4 European Series with a pair of Mercedes AMG GT4s.
The team’s blue AMG will compete in the Silver Cup and will be crewed by American Alexandre Papadopulos together with the returning Italian Luca Bosco, the now 17 year old helped the team finish as runner-up/receive the runner-up title, whilst finishing third himself at seasons end in the Drivers Championship.
SRT’s ‘red’ car (pictured top) will be entrusted to two Belgians in the Am class, namely Jean-Luc Behets and Johan Vannerum.
DTM Trophy
SRT will also run a single car in the DTM Trophy in 2022 for Papadopulos, the DTM support series featuring one driver per car with a pair of sprint races per weekend.
Patrick Selleslagh: “We are indeed continuing to stir up our enthusiasm, and after the runner-up title in the European GT4 Teams, we expect to finish one place higher in the final score this season. We will be present with two cars, maybe even three, but that is not certain yet. We will also take part in the DTM Trophy, again with Mercedes-AMG. This will be an important season for our team, since I am gradually handing on the torch of the team to my son Niels now that I have reached the symbolic age of 65. Niels has been the driving force of the team for many years now, and I am proud of the work we have done together. SRT has been operating on an international level for almost twenty years, and that is something special.”
