High Class Racing & Brabham Automotive Confirm 2022 GT2 Partnership

High Class Racing, in partnership with Brabham Automotive, has confirmed a Brabham BT63 GT2 Concept will compete in the 2022 Fanatec GT2 European Championship, racing under the team name Brabham Automotive Factory Racing.

High Class Racing is the reigning Pro-Am Championship winning squad, taking 5 wins, 8 podiums, 8 Fastest Laps and 2 Pole Positions in 2021 and now the team is ready to defend its crown in 2022.

The Brabham BT63 GT2 Concept, which made its debut as an invitation entry, run by High Class, in the 2021 season finale at Circuit Paul Ricard, now steps up with a first-ever full season entry.

2021 Champion Anders Fjordbach will take the wheel of the Brabham alongside Kevin Weeda this season.

The Dane already has plenty of race miles both in GT2 and in the Brabham, and he will be joined by American driver Kevin Weeda who will make his debut behind the wheel of a GT2 car after joining the High Class racing squad in an LMP2 Oreca for the 2022 Asian Le Mans Series alongside Fjordbach,

Anders Fjordbach: “I’m so proud to be able to defend the Fanatec GT2 European Series crown this year facing a new challenge alongside Kevin driving the stunning BT63 GT2 Concept. I saw the potential of this car after its debut with us last year at Paul Ricard and I really think we can dream big this season. We are ready to fight for top honours in Imola next April.”

Kevin Weeda: “I am thrilled to be racing with High Class and Brabham to help Anders defend his title in this Fanatec GT2 European championship.

“After our successful championship run in the LMP2 car in Asian Le Mans Series, it will be a great experience to compete with this BT63 GT2 Concept car on these iconic circuits in Europe. I am again privileged and honoured to be able to participate with such a fine group of professionals.”

The Brabham BT63 GT2 Concept was designed, engineered and built in Australia by the same team that delivered the Brabham BT62 and BT62R.

The BT63 GT2 Concept uses a 5.2 litre, naturally aspirated Brabham V8 engine, designed with a power-to-weight ratio in-line with SRO GT2 regulations. The Aero package on the Brabham BT63
GT2 Concept is modelled on the BT62R, with a re-designed front splitter, rear diffuser and wing that reduce drag and focus more on top speed.

The body is lightweight carbon fibre over a chromoly sub-frame incorporating an FIA compliant safety cell.

Suspension is fully adjustable double-wishbone while braking is provided by grooved and ventilated, competition-grade, Brembo steel brakes.

Dan Marks, CEO of Brabham Automotive: “We were very satisfied with the debut of the Braham BT63 GT2 Concept last year. It definitely showed its potential against some very storied competition and we’re very excited about the first full season for a new Brabham racing car. It’s a significant milestone for Brabham Automotive with the launch of Brabham Automotive Factory Racing.

“We’re also excited to partner with High Class Racing, last year’s European GT2 champions and a seasoned international racing team”.
