BMW’s 12 Racing Legends For N24 Support Race Named

The BMW M Race of Legends will support the 2022 Nurburgring 24 Hours with a host of BMW racing legends (with a minimum age of 50) going head to head in a 30-minute race on the Grand Prix track just before the 24-hour race gets underway on Saturday 28th May, 2022.

Dirk Adorf, Bill Auberlen, Johnny Cecotto, Eddie Cheever, Harald Grohs, Olaf Manthey, Jochen Mass, Arturo Merzario, Steve Soper, HRH Prince Leopold of Bavaria, Franciscus van Meel and Eric van de Poele will race identical BMW M2 CS Racing.

Jochen Neerpasch, co-founder of BMW Motorsport GmbH and mentor of the current BMW Junior Team, and BMW Group Classic brand ambassador HRH Prince Leopold of Bavaria will also be supporting the drivers as patrons of the race.

The 365-hp BMW M2 CS Racing will each carry an iconic BMW M racing design from the 1970s in honour of BMW M GmbH’s racing history, each car will be slightly different to identify each of the drivers.

The cars will run as follows:

Thursday 26th May, 2022
09:50 – 10:10, 1st free practice session
10:20 – 10:40, 2nd free practice session

Friday 27th May, 2022
15:40 – 16:10, 3rd free practice session
16:20 – 16:30, Qualifying

Saturday 28th May, 2022
13:40 – 13:50, Starting formation
14:00 – 14:30, race (30 min.)
