Patrick Pilet will serve double duty for the 2022 Nürburgring 24 Hours in both the #33 and #44 Falken Porsches.
The #33 Falken Porsche will be driven by Jaxon Evans, Sven Müller, Patrick Pilet and Marco Seefried whilst in the #44 GT3 Patrick Pilet will be joined by Klaus Bachler, Alessio Picariello and Martin Ragginger.
The move comes as Lars Kern is re-allocated by Porsche to a different N24 programme (understood to be the Hüber Motorsport effort) after the Qualifying races at the weekend saw Ayhancan Güven only complete the required laps to gain his Ring Permit in the second and final race.
The initial plan for the Turkish Porsche Junior Driver was to complete the laps in Saturday’s race before transferring to the GT3 car on Sunday. DSC understands that the decision was made to restructure the effort because it would mean that Güven would be lapping the Nordschleife in a GT3 car for the first time in N24 race week.
Amongst the other Falken drivers, New Zealander Jaxon Evans is new to both the team and the Nordschleife this year, but is very familiar with Porsche’s GT3 car. Klaus Bachler, Martin Ragginger and Sven Müller on the other hand have been part of the team for many years. Patrick Pilet, meanwhile, is a previous overall winner of the 24-hour race, taking victory in 2018 with Porsche.
Marco Seefried is also highly experienced at racing in the ‘Green Hell’, the GT3 specialist is known for being versatile, as he has been racing successfully at the Nürburgring for many years in a variety of GT cars. Completing the line-up is Alessio Picariello, who made his Falken Motorsports debut last year and has impressed with strong performances ever since.
