Thursday Imola Round-Up

A baking hot Thursday at Imola saw both the ELMS and Michelin Le Mans Cup cars out on track for a pair of extended test sessions apiece.

The day was not without incident with the ELMS seeing four cars suffer damage, including both Rinaldi Ferraris, one in each session with the #33 of Oscar Tunjo bringing out one of a pair of red flags in the Morning session after an incident that saw the car recovered to the pit with rear end damage. The second session also saw the #60 Iron Lynx Ferrari of Claudio Schiavoni bring out a red flag.

In significantly more trouble though was the DKR Engineering Duqueine of Sebastien Alvarez, a seeming miscalculation under braking for the chicane saw the LMP3 car cannon off the Panis Racing Oreca and into the barriers with just about every body panel on the #4 car damaged.

The Duqueine though would all emerge for lappery in the afternoon session with the Ferrari still under repair.

The Michelin Le Mans Cup field sees potentially four additions this weekend, two of which were on track today with the late addition of the #12 Rinaldi Racing Duqueine for Daniel Keilwitz and Nicolas Varrone and the #13 Haegeli by T2 Racing D08 of Lars Kern and Pieder Decurtins (Marc Basseng also listed as a driver for today but with no lap times confirmed).

Set up in the paddock is the H24 car for Stephane Richelmi and Norman Nato but there was no sign this afternoon of the other new addition on the published entry as yet, the #47 AF2 Motorsport Ligier of Norwegian driver Theodor Olsen and Monegasque Alain Costa.
