As the saying goes: “nothing good ever comes out of a Warm-Up”. This morning’s fifteen minute session was no exception.
In the Hypercar category, the fastest lap was set by Mike Conway in the #7 Toyota Gazoo Racing GR010 Hybrid (3:31.236).
Further down in the ranks, the #709 Glickenhaus Racing 007 LMH driven by Franck Mailleux span at Mulsanne and stopped on track. The car did not suffer any damages.
Meanwhile in LMP2, René Rast was at the top of the time sheets in the #31 WRT Oreca 07 Gibson (3:33.177). He was half a second fastest than the #13 TDS Racing x Valiant driven by Nyck De Vries (3:33.759). The Dutch is replacing Frenchman Philippe Cimadomo after he suffered a violent accident during Thursday night’s free practice session. He was able to cover his three compulsory laps this morning and is now allowed to race this weekend.
Further down in the ranks:
– Nico Muller went off at Indianapolis in the #10 Vector Sport Oreca 07. Luckily for the British team, the car was not damaged.
– The #3 DKR Engineering Oreca 07 Gibson driven by Laurents Horr span and stopped on track.
– The #34 Inter Europol Competition Oreca 07 Gibson was seen on the Mulsanne straight with an opened door.
In the LMGTE Pro category, Antonio Garcia was the fastest in the #63 Corvette Racing C8R (3:54.788). The sister car (the #64) apparently encountered a few problems as Nick Tandy covered the best of a lap at very low speed.
Finally, in the LMGTE Am category, Toni Vilander set the fast lap in the AF Corse Ferrari 488 GTE Evo (3:56.532).
Next up is the Big Race starting at 4pm local time. The starting drivers for the 90th running have been released too and can be found HERE.
