Team principal at GMB Motorsport Casper Elgaard revels in the prospect of a reunion with his old rival:
“We are thrilled and proud to have come to an agreement with Jan. I’ve known Jan for many years, during my driving career he was one of my fiercest competitors, and now I’m looking forward to our new collaboration,” says Casper and continues:
“It’s a huge endorsement of the entire team, that we can attract a driver of that calibre during our first season. Adding a personality with that much experience will be a boost to all of us; mechanics, young drivers and myself included”.
Lars Pedersen: “It’s going to be amazing driving with Jan. He is one of the biggest names in Denmark, and I think that all of us will be able to sponge up a lot due to his vast experience. I can’t wait to drive alongside him on the course in Spa.”
Jan Magnussen: “I’m thrilled and honoured to get the opportunity of getting behind the wheel at a Danish owned team, who’s done brilliantly during their first year. I look forward to getting on the track for GMB Motorsport and hope to help the team to a strong finish, hopefully earning the trophy when the season closes in Portugal.”
Magnussen’s career has featured three karting world championships in go karts, F1 with McLaren, Class championships in the ALMS and IMSA, class victories at 24 Hours of Le Mans, 12 Hours of Sebring and 24 Hours of Daytona several championships in the Danish Touring Car Championship and two seasons of TCR Denmark as well as races in NASCAR and Porsche Carrera Cup!
