The 2023 24 Hours of Spa will have a new date in the wake of the confirmation by the FIA World Motorsport Council of the 24 race 2023 Formula One calendar which sees the Belgian Formula 1 Grand Prix on 30 July, a date announced by SRO at the 2022 Spa 24 Hours as the weekend for next year’s race.
The centenary edition of the Le Mans 24 Hours though has been spared a Formula One clash, as the FIA had suggested after recent clashes with F1 on race weekend, in particular with the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
“In framing the 2023 F1 calendar, WMSC Members have been mindful of the timing of the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans,” said FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem in the FIA bulletin confirming the F1 calendar.
With Formula One though setting their course forward with so many races there is an inevitability that other significant motorsport events will also be impacted by clashes.
