Muller’s Peugeot Posting Sees van der Zande Back In Bahrain For Vector Sport

In the wake of confirmation today that Nico Muller will complete the Peugeot Sport Hypercar line-up in the 8 Hours of Bahrain next month, Vector Sport has confirmed that Renger van der Zande will, for the second consecutive race, be part of the team’s driver line up for Bahrain (10-12th November 2022),  a replacement for the departed Muller and joining  Sébastien Bourdais and Ryan Cullen in the #10 Oreca 07.

Nico Müller competed with Vector Sport for the first four rounds of the season.

van der Zande stood in for the then DTM-committed Müller at Fuji earlier this month, building on his working relationship with Sébastien Bourdais in Cadillac Racing’s IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship campaign.

Gary Holland, Vector Sport Team Principal: “We are extremely pleased to have Renger with us for our final race of the season as he made a very positive impact on the team in Fuji. He’s fast, smart and his approach and attitude fitted in so well with our own. His previous knowledge of Bahrain International Circuit will be invaluable to us on our debut there, and we can’t wait to get there and show what we can all do.”

The new British team, which had never raced anywhere before the start of the 2022 WEC season, recorded a well-earned podium finish in the ultra-competitive LMP2 category at the Monza round in July.

Subject to confirmation of a place on the entry list, Vector Sport plans to compete in the 2023 FIA World Endurance Championship’s LMP2 category and be in a strong position to challenge for championship glory.
