OK – it’s a cheap shot!
But JOTA have taken delivery of three non-functional Porsche 963 Show cars, bound for the global marketing and PR efforts to support the JOTA Team Hertz FIA WEC campaign that is due to get underway just as soon as Porsche can deliver the real thing!
The team have taken huge steps forward since the dark days of having two apparently identical ORECA 07s contesting the 2022 FIA WEC, one of which – we think the #38 car, to the class Championship.
Since then the team have gone to extreme lengths to avoid confusion – entering the HyperCar class in part, according to no paddock sources whatsoever, to ensure that the WEC’s hard pressed TV commentary team could tell the difference between the team’s Porsche 963 and the solo Oreca that will be campaigned too.
After checking with the team, DSC can also confirm that the HyperCar plans are 100% confirmed with a Porsche 963 after doubts were expressed on car choice recently. We cannot confirm* that a leaked Hertz internal document described the car as “Porsche 963 or similar”
