apr Teases New Lexus LC500h GT300 Race Car

Japanese constructor's new-for-2023 hybrid GT300 racer to be revealed imminently

A long-time fixture of the SUPER GT Series, Japanese constructor apr released the first teaser image of their newest GT300 racing vehicle, based upon the Lexus LC500h hybrid grand tourer.

The first teaser was shown on Boxing Day, and captures a glimpse of the LC500’s unique application of Lexus’ “L-Headlights” design language.

On the same day, a listing for the upcoming auto sport Magazine eBook confirmed the identity of apr’s new racer as the Lexus LC500h.

This same listing also confirmed that the LC 500h GT300 will be powered by the Toyota 2UR-GSE V8 engine, the same engine that powers the standard road-going LC500h – as well as all of Toyota’s GT300 vehicles and the Lexus RC F GT3.

A special version of the Lexus LC competed earlier this year in the fourth round of the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie (NLS), and from 2017 to 2019, the LC500 was Toyota’s representative vehicle in the top class of SUPER GT.

The eBook is set for release on Wednesday, which means that fans won’t be kept waiting long for a full-scale unveiling of the new apr flagship hybrid race car.

With the imminent debut of the LC500h GT300 at hand, apr Racing also gave official confirmation that the Toyota Prius will be retired as the constructor’s flagship model after 11 years.
