2022 Michelin Le Mans Cup GT3 Champions GMB Motorsport are set to return to the Series in 2023, but their effort, alongside a full season presence in the European Le Mans Series (and at the Le Mans 24 Hours) with an Aston Martin Vantage GTE, will not see a return for the full season with the Honda NSX GT3 Evo 22.
Instead, the team’s current plans are understood to involve a full-season effort with a single BMW M4 GT3 and a possible part-season effort with a single Honda. The BMW looks set to be crewed by Kristian Poulsen with Christina Nielsen looking set to make her debut in Le Mans Cup after a reversal of the initial FIA Driver ranking decision on Sarah Bovy was reversed on appeal, the Iron Dames team therefore not requiring a replacement Bronze-ranked driver after Nielsen had tested a GTE Porsche with them at Portimao.
The car involved is understood by DSC to be the same M4 GT3 thus far campaigned under the Poulsen Motorsport banner in selected 24H Series races.
A single GMB Honda is also set to appear in other European Series in 2023 with cousins Gustav and Simon Birch sharing driving duties for programmes yet to be finalised.
Back to Michelin Le Mans Cup and at least one additional BW M4 GT3 looks set to be added to the grid as WRT will announce a first ever full-season presence in the series (the team has made appearances at the Road To Le Mans races with Audi GT3 machinery). The BMW is set to be crewed by a Pro-Am pairing with GT3 experience elsewhere, the Pro having had both GT racing and single seater experience to a very high level.
Barwell Motorsport look set to return to the Series too with at least one Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2, the British squad another set to add a first ever full-season effort after previously contesting a part season in 2016.
