GT World Challenge Europe newcomer Comtoyou Racing set the fastest time of Day 1 of the pre-season test at Paul Ricard.
The #11 R8 LMS EVO2’s best time came in the morning, a 1:53.294S from Gilles Magnus. While the team is yet to announce its 2023 line-ups, the Belgian driver is among those known to be in contention for a seat with the team this season.
His time would not be beaten during the afternoon. However, the fast start to the season for Audi would continue when another one of its customer teams, Tresor Attempto Racing, topped the times in the afternoon. Factory driver Mattia Drudi posted a 1:53.726s aboard the #40 machine, which is set to compete under the Tresor Orange1 banner this season.
Saintéloc Junior Team showed well in the morning session too, finishing second to fellow Audi squad Comtoyou Racing with a time just 0.015s off. The #998 ROWE Racing BMW ended up third.
Akkodis ASP meanwhile. was second fastest in the afternoon with its #88 Mercedes-AMG, followed by the same aforementioned ROWE BMW M4.
The vast majority of the day’s track action took place in bright sunshine. Light rain fell during the final hour, preventing any late changes at the top of the order, but clear weather is forecast for Wednesday.
A total of 48 cars were on-track during Tuesday’s sessions.
Testing continues tomorrow with two more sessions.
