Fabulous 1972 Ferrari 312PB Sold
DSC is running a series of articles ahead on an extraordinary auction of 24 historically significant cars in Le Mans history by RM Sothebys.
Last weekend though saw another amazing and historic car go under the hammer, this1972 Ferrari 312PB. Winner of the 1972 Buenos Aires 1,000 Kilometres and the 1972 Nürburgring 1,000 Kilometres and with a second place finish at the 1972 12 Hours of Sebring, and 3rd-place finish at the 1972 Monza 1,000 Kilometres.
A fantastic example of the last Ferrari Works sports prototype to compete and win the World Sportscar Championship, a title the new 499Ps will attempt to regain in 2023 and beyond.
The car sold for €12,042,500.
Taylor Hagler Replaces Injured Charles Dawson in GT4 European Series
W&S Motorsport has announced the addition of Taylor Hagler to its GT4 European Series line-up. The US-American will contest the races at Paul Ricard, Spa-Francorchamps and Misano alongside Gustavo Xavier in the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport #442.

Hagler is replacing Briton Charles Dawson, who continues to recover from his accident at the season opener in Monza.
Hagler, 27, has won the TCR class Drivers Championship in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge twice in a row over the past two years and finished as the second best GT3 Pro-Am driver in the SRO GT World Challenge America in 2021.
With W&S Motorsport, the Texan is taking the next step to gain more racing experience in Europe and prepare for more competitions in Europe.
“We are very happy to welcome Taylor to the team and are sure that we will achieve strong results together,” said Daniel Schellhaas, team principal W&S Motorsport. “Thanks to her experience, she ideally complements our line-up and I am looking forward to racing with her. At the same time, we wish Charles a continued good recovery and look forward to him returning to the cockpit in the second half of the season!”

Giovanis’ $35 Million cancer research pledge
Michelin Pilot Challenge team owner/driver Ted Giovanis has announced a $35 million donation to create the Giovanis Institute for Translational Cell Biology at Johns Hopkins Medicine.
Through the gift, scientists will study how cancer metastasizes, or spreads through the body, in the hope of discovering commonalities in the ways different cancers spread and leading to new therapies that may limit or prevent metastasizing in a patient’s body altogether.
The generous donation, a 15-year commitment, comes from the Jayne Koskinas Ted Giovanis Foundation for Health and Policy, named in honor of Giovanis’ wife who died from metastatic breast cancer in 2010.
“I think of myself as someone who wants to make a difference, and I can leverage the work of my foundation to a much broader and more impactful scale by providing this gift to Johns Hopkins,” Giovanis said.
The initial focus will be on how breast cancer metastasizes, but Giovanis said there are commonalities in the ways different cancers spread, so the research may benefit those other types as well.
“If you look at the cancer cell as a seed, it’s looking for someplace to go (when it spreads),” Giovanis explains. “If we can find out what it’s looking for, maybe we can test for that. … If we can know how it operates, we believe there will be ideas that emerge on how we can disrupt that – how it metastasizes and lands someplace.”
