Asian Le Mans Series Returns East In 2023-24

Two races at Sepang International Circuit mark the series' return to Southeast Asia, alongside Dubai and Abu Dhabi

For the first time since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Asian Le Mans Series is returning to race at a traditional venue in Southeast Asia – as part of the longest calendar in the series’ history.

The 2023-24 Asian Le Mans Series will open with a doubleheader at Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia. Two four-hour races are scheduled for 2/3 December as the first and second rounds of the upcoming season.

This will mark Sepang’s return to the calendar for the first time since February 2020 when it was the third round of the 2019-20 season – weeks before the declaration of a global pandemic and the subsequent period of restricted passage across borders.

For the past three seasons, the Asian Le Mans Series has run exclusively at venues in the United Arab Emirates in a compressed format, such as the 2023 season which had all four of its races held across nine days.

These venues will still be a part of the 2023-24 calendar, however, once the Asian Le Mans Series returns from a two-month break. Dubai Autodrome returns for a single four-hour race on 4 February. The following week, the series heads back to Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi for a double-header finale, on 10/11 February.

With five scheduled rounds, this marks the longest Asian Le Mans Series calendar since the series was established in its current form in 2013.

The ACO has also confirmed that both the LMP2 and GT class champions will again earn a guaranteed invitation into next year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans.
