The GT Association (GTA) announced a familiar-looking 2024 Autobacs SUPER GT Series calendar on Thursday.
Next year’s championship features total continuity, with eight rounds at the big six Japanese racing circuits, all in the same order as they were in 2023. The 2024 season begins, as it has nearly every year since 2009, at Okayama International Circuit on 14 April.
This opening round will take place two weeks after the debut of the FIA Formula E Tokyo ePrix, and one week after the Formula One Japanese Grand Prix which has moved to the spring months.
The Golden Week race at Fuji Speedway will continue on its traditional date of 4 May, which is a Saturday, followed by the spring race at Suzuka Circuit on 2 June.
Return visits to Fuji and Suzuka will kick off the “mid-summer triple” on 4 August and 1 September, respectively. Sportsland Sugo hosts the sixth round on 22 September, followed by Autopolis, two weeks later on 6 October, and then the championship decider at Mobility Resort Motegi on 3 November.
No race distances have been confirmed outside of the first round at Okayama, which is set to be a 300km race according to the Japan Automobile Federation (JAF) provisional 2024 calendar released today. This year’s SUPER GT Series features five 450-kilometre rounds – both races at Fuji and Suzuka, and the penultimate round at Autopolis.
For the fifth year in a row, there will be no ventures overseas to venues like Sepang and Buriram due to logistical concerns.
