Kobayashi 33rd on NASCAR debut

Toyota Gazoo Racing Hypercar driver and team principal Kamui Kobayashi finished 33rd on his NASCAR Cup Series debut over the weekend at Indianapolis. It was a turbulent outing for the two-time WEC champion, who started 28th but was turned into a spin twice in his 23XI Racing Camry and struggled to climb the order thereafter.

Despite the outcome, Kobayashi expressed his desire to return to the Cup Series after the race.

Of the other guest drivers that took part in the race on the road course, it was another impressive run for Shane van Gisbergen, who followed up his win on debut in Chicago with a 10th place finish. NASCAR Garage 56 Le Mans drivers Mike Rockenfeller and Jenson Button also took part and finished 24th and 28th respectively.
