Pirelli GT4 America is back, this weekend at Road America, following a two-month summer break. This weekend’s double-header will feature a provisional 36-car entry list.
Last time out at VIRginia International Raceway, BMW M4 GT4s took top honours in all three classes in both races. Nine of them are entered in this weekend’s races.
The #51 Auto Technic Racing BMW of Zac Anderson and John Capestro-Dubets leads the Silver class championship after a win in Race 2 at VIR – but as of publication, “JCD” is not listed to join Anderson aboard the #51 this weekend. A second driver, currently listed as TBD, will be named in the coming days, whether it is Dubets or another driver.
An eight-car Silver class field will regain the presence of the #999 Hanley Motorsports Toyota GR Supra GT4 (Daniel Hanley/Parker Thompson), which had pulled out of the VIR races due to a rift between team founder Robert Hanley and SRO America – a rift which seems to have healed, to the benefit of all stakeholders and fans alike!
GT4 America will also welcome back Van der Steur Racing, a regular in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge, fielding the #119 Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 for Rory van der Steur and Aston Martin academy driver Jamie Day.
In Pro-Am, just nine points separate the top three teams in the standings – led by the #82 BimmerWorld M4 of James Walker Jnr and Tyler McQuarrie, just two points ahead of the #47 NOLASPORT Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport (Matt Travis/Jason Hart), and nine points ahead of the #50 Chouest Povoledo Racing Aston Martin Vantage GT4 (Ross Chouest/Aaron Povoledo).
Among the changes in Pro-Am this time out, GMG Racing will enter with drivers Todd Parriott and Tom Dyer in the #13 Aston Martin. The #35 Conquest Racing Mercedes-AMG GT4 has stepped up a class with Cedric Sbirrazzuoli taking Paulo Carcasci’s usual place. The #35 car is now also entered under the Conquest Racing/JMF Motorsports banner, just like the #34 of Jesse Webb and Michai Stephens.
And in the Am class, the new McLaren Artura GT4 is back in the series thanks to Crucial Motorsports, which has entered the #80 for Kaia Teo and Nick Longhi. Black Swan Racing had entered a new Artura GT4 in the first three meetings, but the team has been absent since an incident at Circuit of the Americas.
Defending champions James Clay and Charlie Postins currently hold a 38-point lead in the Am class championship and will aim to build on that in their #36 BimmerWorld M4.
