Circuit Safari a success in DTM

DTM held a Circuit Safari for a second time last weekend at the Lautiszring. The Super GT-inspired fan experience proved to be hugely popular with drivers and fans alike.

After a successful debut at the Nürburgring, the second DTM Circuit Safari took place last Friday, with two packed coaches full of fans touring the circuit while the GT3 cars were on track.

“This is my first time at the racetrack and I am absolutely thrilled,” said DTM rookie Yvonne Scholz. “The Track Safari was the highlight of the weekend. When the cars raced past us so close to the bus, I was really taken aback. I was not expecting that. It was absolutely awesome.”

Glickenhaus’ 412P fetches $30.25 million at auction

The rare 1967 Ferrari 412P Berlinetta, previously owned by Jim Glickenhaus, made headlines at the Bonhams Quail Auction in California last week, fetching a staggering $30.25 million, making it the fourth most valuable Ferrari ever sold at auction.

It’s just one of two 412Ps constructed and has undergone a nine-year restoration.

Its current finish honours its heritage as a race car run by Maranello Concessionaires Ltd, competing in the FIA World Championship of Makes, racing at the Le Mans 24-Hours, Belgian Spa 1,000 Kilometers and in its home country at the BOAC 500 at Brands Hatch.

Over a thousand people gathered in the room to see the 412P soar to a remarkable $30.25 million (£23.7 million).

“Thanks to its devoted lineage of owners and the stewardship of its seller, the 412P stands as an enduring piece of art that honours the Ferrari legacy,” commented Rupert Banner, global head of Specialists at Bonhams. “It was a privilege to be entrusted with its sale and to attain such an exceptional outcome that respects that fully.”

The Schaeffler DTM Innovation Taxi, which provides driving experiences for VIPs during DTM race weekends, will run exclusively on e-fuels for the second half of the season.

According to DTM, the synthetic fuel being used “has no fossil elements, but is made entirely out of biomass, creating a CO₂-neutral driving experience.”
