Pedrosa To Compete In KTM GT2 At Valencia

Alongside Hubert Trunkenpolz...

MotoGP legend Dani Pedrosa is set to make his GT2 debut at the upcoming GT2 European Series weekend at Valencia, driving a True Racing by Reiter Engineering KTM X-BOW GT2 with KTM executive board member Hubert Trunkenpolz.

Pedrosa, who retired from full-time racing in MotoGP back in 2018 (following a long association with Honda), has since become a member of KTM’s Grand Prix motorcycle racing operations as its test and development rider. Ahead of his GT2 appearance, the 37-year-old will be racing for KTM at the MotoGP race in Misano.

“I am thrilled and grateful to have this challenge in GT2,” said the three-time world champion, who has 54 MotoGP race wins to his name. “It’s my very first time driving the KTM X-BOW GT2, alongside Hubert who knows the car very well. I hope to have a good experience in such a strong car, and feel the adrenaline on four wheels for a change!”

This one-off appearance follows a partial Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe campaign in 2022.

“Dani is a racer through and through and a real asset to KTM,” said Trunkenpolz. “Everyone in the team is hugely looking forward to his debut in the Fanatec GT2 European Series. We firmly believe that he can perform just as well on four wheels as he can on two, and we can’t wait to hear what he has to say about the KTM X-BOW GT2.”

The GT2 European Series race weekend at the Circuit Ricard Tormo, which will feature five KTM X-Bow GT2s on its entry list, is set to run from 15 to 17 September.
