Walkenhorst Motorsport completed a hugely impressive sweep of the 12H Nürburgring weekend today with a 1-2 finish in the six-hour NLS7 race.

Christian Krognes and Jakub ‘Kuba’ Giermaziak again starred, and steered their Yokohama-shod #34 BMW M4 GT3 to victory ahead of the #35 sister car of Niklas Krütten and Dylan Pereira.

“A dream comes true for our team. I don’t think we’ve ever won a doubleheader like this before,” said a delighted Christian Krognes. Teammate Giermaziak was also fully satisfied after the victorious weekend: “After the 24h Race we needed such a result to confirm ourselves. The last two races were terrific, the car was running great.”

The sister car crossed the line just under three minutes behind. “After some technical problems in yesterday’s race, everything went well today. We didn’t encounter any problems, the car and the tyres coped well with the heat. Everything was as it should be – and now I want to celebrate our second place,” Pereirasaid.

Behind, PROsport’s #17 SP9 Pro/Am entered Aston Martin Vantage GT3 of Maxime Dumarey, Christoph Breuer and Marek Böckmann completed the podium. “I don’t even know what to say. My goal was to fight for victory in the Pro-Am, now we’re on the overall podium! I have to sleep on it again and pinch myself once more,” said Böckmann.

Completing the top five was the #25 Dörr Motorsport Aston Martin Vantage, which enjoyed a strong finish in NLS6 and the Cup 2-winning #100 Max Kruse Racing 911 GT3 Cup.

After finishing second and third overall in yesterday’s race, neither Falken Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R 992 took part in today’s encounter, which featured a thin field of just 11 GT3 cars across the SP9 Pro, SP9 Pro/Am and SP9 Am classes.

In the overall standings after now seven of a total of nine races in the Nürburgring Endurance Series, Daniel Zils, Oskar Sandberg and Philipp Leisen have collected the maximum number of points. 37 error-free laps once again secured VT2-R+4WD class victory for the #1 Adrenalin Motorsport BMW 330i.

The title could only be in danger if SRS Team Sorg Rennsport continue to score full points in the Cup3. Taking into account two dropped results, Heiko Eichenberg, Fabio Grosse and Patrik Grütter would be on a par with the Adrenalin trio.

Next up is NLS8 on September 23rd, the 55th edition of the ADAC Barbarossapreis.
