British racer Ben Hanley has been added to United Autosports’ IMSA WeatherTech LMP2 driver roster for the 2024 season.
The 38-year-old, who has been racing in the FIA WEC with United this season and is fresh from an LMP2 class win at Petit Le Mans last weekend, will race for the full season with previously announced driver Ben Keating.
Hanley and Keating will fight for the IMSA LMP2 and IMSA LMP2 Endurance Cup titles throughout the seven-round season and will be joined by Alex Quinn for the endurance races.
“It’s great to be part of United Autosports’ first full season in IMSA next year,” says Hanley. “I had a great feeling with the team in the few races I did this year and I’m really excited to see what we can achieve in 2024.”
In IMSA competition Hanley has four wins and four podiums from 12 starts and has a class win at the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona (in 2020) on his CV.
“Ben Hanley is a quality professional with a ton of IMSA and LMP experience,” says United Autosports CEO Richard Dean. “We have wanted to work with Ben for quite some time now and we have had him in a United car sporadically this year with great success.
“We now have the chance to turn that into a full season working together alongside Ben Keating and Alex Quinn. This is a formidable line-up and underlines how seriously we are taking our full-season IMSA programme next year.”
Next year United will race with two ORECA 07 Gibsons in IMSA. Its second P2 car will be driven by the previously-confirmed trio of Daniel Goldburg, Marino Sato and Paul Di Resta.
For its first full-season effort, its ORECAs will be run with the support of partner organisation JrIII Racing, with the cars prepped and housed at the JrIII base in Charlotte, North Carolina.
