Current HERTZ Team JOTA Hypercar driver Antonio Felix da Costa has revealed that he will step away from the FIA WEC in 2024 to focus on a full-season Formula E campaign with Porsche.
Next season the Portuguese ace has opted to concentrate solely on his drive with TAG Heuer Porsche in the 10th Formula E season alongside Pascal Wehrlein. There is a significant clash next year, with the Berlin E-Prix set to run on the same weekend as the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps in May.
“It’s with great sadness that I won’t be competing in the Endurance World Championship in 2024,” he said on social media. “I remember when I first started in endurance and thinking, ’24H races??’
“Today it is one of my biggest passions. Having had the pleasure of working with amazing teams, brands, manufacturers and especially teammates!
“Team Jota, thank you so much for all that you did in my life and career, best time I’ve had on a race track. This is not a goodbye, just a see you later!”
Currently, da Costa competes in the FIA WEC alongside Will Stevens and Yifei Ye in JOTA’s #38 Porsche 963 LMDh and will finish his campaign this weekend at the season finale in Bahrain.
Da Costa’s departure leaves a hole in JOTA’s #38 driver line-up for the 2024 season, when it plans to expand its effort to two Porsche 963s in Hypercar.
