Two-time European Le Mans Series race winner Ben Hanley has been revealed as the first driver in United Autosports’ ELMS LMP2 line-up for 2024.
This follows the news that Hanley will race for United in the 2024 IMSA WeatherTech LMP2 class as part of the team’s two-car, full-season effort.
As DSC wrote yesterday, United is seeking three LMP2 entries for the 2024 ELMS season, which is expected to feature an expanded field of 22 cars across LMP2 and LMP2 Pro/Am.
“Racing with United Autosports in the 2024 European Le Mans Series is really exciting, even more so alongside the IMSA programme,” said Hanley. “We have a big year ahead, challenging for two major LMP2 championship titles in IMSA and the ELMS. That is our clear objective throughout 2024, so let the hard work commence.”
This news comes at the end of another solid season in LMP2 racing for Hanley, with a 50% podium success rate in the 2023 European Le Mans Series Pro/Am Class, as well as Stateside success, with two IMSA victories and a further two US podiums.
Hanley has also celebrated on the global stage this year, taking second place with United Autosports in the 6 Hours of Portimão, the second round of the 2023 FIA World Endurance Championship.
“Ben is another big addition to our ELMS driver lineup,” says United Autosports CEO Richard Dean. “We finished our 2023 season with three wins out of six so we can measure that as a pretty successful year. However, we know the level in the series lifts higher every year and we need to keep pushing for our own improvements. Ben is a winner and it’s great to have him with us for a full season in 2024 to help us continue our desire to win.”
