Nielsen Confirms Second ORECA, Drivers For Asian Le Mans UAE Leg

Petit Le Mans winner Liddy joins the outfit

Nielsen Racing has announced the six drivers that will drive its pair of LMP2 class ORECA 07s in the three remaining 2023/24 Asian Le Mans Series round in the UAE in February.

For the races in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, the team is expanding its effort to two cars, with the new #34 car set to be driven by Matt Bell and Americans Blake McDonald and Patrick Liddy.

Both McDonald and Liddy are Asian Le Mans Series and LMP2 rookies. McDonald joins the team after spending 2023 competing in both Porsche and Lamborghini one-make competition, while Liddy formed part of Forte Racing Powered by US RaceTronics’s Lamborghini GTD effort in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, winning the season finale at Petit Le Mans.

Bell meanwhile, is a Nielsen Racing regular in the Le Mans Cup and Asian Le Mans Series, where he was part of their title-winning LMP2 crew in 2022.

He also drove for the team at the Le Mans 24 Hours in 2022 (above), with Rodrigo Sales and Ben Hanley in LMP2 Pro/Am. He brings valuable prototype experience to the #34 line-up for the remainder of the campaign.

The #24, which was present for the races in opening races of the season in Sepang, will be driven by the same trio of Ian Loggie, Alex Garcia and Ferdinand Habsburg in Dubai and Yas Marina.
