Risi Competizione Ferrari took a famous victory at the 2024 Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona, and did so with the #62 Ferrari 296 GT3 sporting a smart new livery.
The story of the 20-24 livery harks back to a race five years earlier, the 2019 running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
In 2019, Risi Competizione competed with their #89 Ferrari 488 GTE-Pro entry, fielding Pipo Derani, Oliver Jarvis and Jules Gounon of France, in connection with Frenchman Jean Guikas and the French Ferrari Owners Club for a Franco-American alliance for Le Mans.
The one-off Le Mans livery was imagined and designed as part of a contest that brought together 21 pairs of students from different sectors of ENSAAMA Oliviers de Serres (School of Art and Design), a decorative arts school in Paris, France.
In 2021 the Risi Competizione livery for the Rolex 24 race was also designed by the same school, in a partnership also with the Ferrari Club of France.
And once again, in 2024, Risi combined in a partnership with the Ferrari Club of France, and ENSAAMA once again helped design another special livery for the team; this time for Daytona.
The student who designed the graphics is Carla Mallein-Gerin, a third-year French student in Digital Design and Animation at the art school.
Carla shared that her choice of stripes and the shades of colours were inspired by nighttime racing photos and particularly light trails which evoked “speed and the goal for victory.”
And there was another collaboration with a young person aboard the Rolex 24-winning Ferrari.
The Risi team awarded a 12-year-old French fan the opportunity to have a decal placed on the car.
In his hand-written letter to the team mailed from Orleans,France to their Houston, Texas office, Gauthier Masson expressed his support of the Risi Competizione team for several years and inquired if the team would possibly place a logo he designed on the car – for good luck!
The Risi Competizione team management did exactly that and “Gauthier Masson” accompanied the #62 car to the win!
