IMSA Announces 2025 Calendar

11-race WeatherTech Sportscar Championship calendar features no significant changes; Pilot Challenge schedule also confirmed

IMSA has announced its calendar for the 2025 IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship during this weekend’s 12 Hours of Sebring.

The season will consist of 11 rounds, including five races which form the Michelin Endurance Cup.

The dates for the 63rd Rolex 24 at Daytona were already announced earlier this month: The Roar Before The 24 is set for 17-19 January, a week before the Rolex 24 festivities which run from 23 January and conclude with the race itself on 25-26 January.

Next year’s 12 Hours of Sebring is scheduled for 12-15 March, before the series goes on its two-race excursion to the west coast.

The GTP and GTD classes will have their 100-minute sprint race at the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach weekend on 11-12 April, followed by the first two-hour, 40-minute race – the Course de Monterey at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, featuring GTP, GTD Pro, and GTD – on 9-11 May.

The Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix weekend will also have a 100-minute sprint with GTP and GTD Pro, held on the weekend of 30-31 May. This will be the series’ second visit to the new street circuit in Detroit’s Renaissance Centre district.

All classes will feature at the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen, at Watkins Glen International on 26-29 June, for the third leg of the Michelin Endurance Cup.

The month of July will see IMSA return to Canadian Tire Motorsports Park in Bowmanville, Ontario on 11-13 July. This race will again feature LMP2, GTD Pro, and GTD – but not GTP.

Road America will host the IMSA Sportscar Weekend on 31 July-3 August, as the only two-hour, 40-minute sprint round to feature all four classes. Three weeks later, VIRginia International Raceway hosts the IMSA GT Challenge, exclusive to the GTD Pro and GTD classes, on 22-24 August.

Finally, the season concludes with the last two legs of the Michelin Endurance Cup: The Battle on the Bricks six-hour race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, on 19-21 September; followed by Motul Petit Le Mans at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, the traditional ten-hour finale on 8-11 October.

“On behalf of my teammates at IMSA, I am proud to be able to announce our schedule for 2025 at such an early date,” said IMSA President John Doonan. “This was made possible through a great spirit of collaboration with our promoter partners, and we are grateful to them for enabling us to make our 2025 plans known today.

“Putting next year’s schedule into everybody’s hands so soon allows fans, competitors and partners to get well ahead in planning for an amazing 2025 season, even with so much of our 2024 season still to come.”

The news of a stable and unchanged set of venues and dates also confirms that Lime Rock Park, removed from the 2024 calendar due to “unavoidable scheduling conflicts,” will also not return in 2025.

The 2025 IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge calendar was also revealed, consisting of ten rounds.

Daytona will be the venue of the season-opening BMW M Endurance Challenge four-hour race on 25 January, followed by Sebring on 14 March, and Laguna Seca on 10 May, for a pair of two-hour races.

Michelin Pilot Challenge will headline IMSA’s visit to Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, where a second four-hour race will be held on 8 June. That will be followed by a two-hour race at Watkins Glen on 28 June.

The second half of the season will feature rounds at CTMP/Mosport on 12 July, Road America on 2 August, VIR on 23 August, followed by Indianapolis on 20 September and Road Atlanta on 10 October.

The series will also be present during the Roar Before the 24 weekend for non-compulsory pre-season tests.
