After a successful multi-year foray into historic racing, including victories, podiums, pole positions and a sequence of historic car builds sportscar racing Champion and broadcaster Alex Brundle has realised a long-held ambition of launching a team for classic racing cars, bringing a polished touch to and a view to expanding the reach of historic racing.
Since 2022, Alex has documented the build of a Mk1 specification GT40, from bare chassis to race at the Spa Six Hours sharing the wheel of his 1965 Ford Mustang race car with cycling megastar Sir Chris Hoy, Grand Tour test driver Abbie Eaton, and YouTuber Jimmy Broadbent; He’ll be joined at the Goodwood Members Meeting in the team’s ‘Brustang’ by David Brabham, part of a programme that will see more big names in the team’s four iconic cars.
The team will be backed by Adrian Flux as title partners for the project continuing Brundle’s three years relationship with the brand.
A mechanical partnership with renowned historic specialists Pearsons Engineering will supply the project with immense expertise and historic motorsport know-how and there are partnerships too with Salone Events and Motorflix Media who will supply hospitality and brand representation for Brundle Motorsport’s partners and drivers at the events and online through world-class video and photography.
Alex Brundle, said: “Historic motorsport ignites the passion I have for racing action, as it should be. Fast, loud, well attended and exciting. I am in a lucky ‘sweet spot’ of having some understanding of classic cars alongside knowledge of the sport and media landscape, as it is now. With that, comes a responsibility to communicate everything that I see as great about this type of racing.
Alongside our partners, the aim of Brundle Motorsport is to balance respect for the industry as it is, while using the media channels, technologies and personalities available to put the viewer as close to the driving seat as we can!”
Gerry Bucke, general manager of Adrian Flux, said: “We are proud to have been working with Alex since 2020 and the launch of Brundle Motorsport is an exciting step in our relationship.
“Our love of motorsport and classic cars makes this the perfect fit for our company and we’re looking forward to seeing how Alex and the team perform, as well as sharing footage and news from some of the great projects he has planned.”
