Next weekend’s Long Beach Grand Prix sees the IMSA GTPs race with the GTD field with the GTD Pros taking the weekend off, Long Beach famously light on available paddock space.
That’s not the case though for the reigning GTD Pro Drivers Champions as Vasser Sullivan has confirmed a plan to double up to a pair of GTD class entries for the 100-minute Californian street race.
The regular #12 car will see Frankie Montecalvo paired with Jack Hawksworth whilst their respective full-season team-mates, Parker Thompson and Ben Barnicoat will combine in a one-off #89 Lexus RCF GT3, the number celebrating the first year in which the Lexus brand was marketed in North America.
It’s not the first time that the team has doubled up in the GTD class. The 2022 Detroit Grand Prix on the Belle Isle circuit was another that saw GTD only running again, Vasser Sullivan ran two cars, with Barnicoat and Kyle Kirkwood taking a win on that occasion.
GTD Pro meanwhile will run alongside the GTPs at the Detroit Grand Prix on 1 June.
