Post Weekend ELMS Notebook

Revised Result

A couple of post-race penalties were levied but without major effects on the overall result.

The #3 DKR Engineering Oreca of Laurents Hoerr was judged to be predominantly at fault for the incident coming out of T1 late in the race that pitched Nelson Piquet Jr’s #19 Team Virage into a spin and an impact with the wall.

Hoerr was dealt a drive-through, converted into a 3- second time penalty and received a single penalty point for the incident. The #3 stayed 17th overall after the penalty.

Paul Loup Chatin meanwhile fell short of the minimum required driver time in his #47 COOL Racing ORECA by 37 seconds, the team dealt a Stop-Go, converted to a 37 second post-race time penalty, the car though would remain 18th in the final finishing order.

You’re Not On the List – You’re Not Coming In!

There was an awkward moment for the race winning Cool racing crew ahead of the ELMS winners press conference when Malthe Jakobsen, Ritomo Miyata and Lorenzo Fluxa were initially denied entry to the newly completed media centre, none of the three equipped with the relevant pass.

After a gentle explanation to the well-meaning security guard that the trio, all clutching metre-high trophies and dripping with champagne, should be allowed entry just this once all was well!

Crowd

Whilst no official figures have been seen by DSC there’s no doubt that there was an impressively large turn-out from the public on both Saturday and Sunday with the majority of those present staying on to recognise the race winners on the podium.
