Eight-Round 2025 FIA WEC Calendar Revealed, No Venue Changes

Imola handed multi-year extension as FIA and ACO opt for schedule stability

The 2025 FIA WEC calendar was revealed this morning during the annual ACO Press Conference at the Circuit de La Sarthe, on the eve of the 92nd edition of the Le Mans 24 Hours.

Next year’s schedule is identical to 2024, with eight rounds, at the same eight circuits, in the same order.

The season will kick off once again in Qatar in February with a pre-season Prologue test and 1812km race.

The teams will then head to Europe for three rounds, with two six-hour races at Imola and Spa-Francorchamps in April and May, before the Le Mans 24 Hours on June 14th-15th.

One month later the teams will head back to São Paulo in July, then Circuit of the Americas (COTA) after a summer break in September, before the final stretch of the season which features visits to the Fuji Speedway for a six-hour race and Bahrain for the traditional eight-hour finale.

The main headline here is the retention of Imola, after a hugely successful debut on the WEC calendar earlier this season.

The WEC, with support from Imola’s City Mayor Marco Panieri, has signed a four-year contract for the championship to remain at the Italian circuit until 2028.

Proving its commitment to the WEC, Imola has committed to improving paddock infrastructure including building extra pit garages. This will enable the venue to host an expanded full-season WEC grid, which next year will feature 40 cars (up from 37 this year) and supposedly a minimum of 14 manufacturers.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for the city of Imola, as its geographic position at the heart of the Motor Valley, on the famous Via Emilia road, can help promote the local masteries,” said Marco Panieri, the Mayor of Imola.

“To promote the spirit of Le Mans, the city of Imola and its staff have worked to connect the historic city centre to the race track. Another important factor for us is investment in the race track. Thanks to this event we will be able to improve infrastructure like boxes and the fan zone, making visitors and staff experience more enjoyable.”

Also of note is a return to Circuit of The Americas in Texas, which took over from Sebring as the host venue for the WEC’s race in the USA this season.

“The 2025 WEC calendar is about consolidation and creating a schedule that works for both our teams and fans,” remarked Frédéric Lequien, FIA World Endurance Championship CEO.

“The WEC is growing at an extraordinary rate but we must remain humble and by maintaining eight rounds, we are listening to our teams, stakeholders and partners by also keeping budget in mind. It is important for WEC to reach as wide an audience as possible and with eight races across five different regions, we will continue to achieve this.

“We are delighted that Imola has committed to the WEC until at least 2028 – the circuit and city Mayor Marco Panieri have been a tremendous support and this year’s inaugural WEC race there was a huge success, which we look forward to emulating in 2025 and beyond.”

The 2025 WEC schedule was ratified by the FIA World Motor Sport Council this week.

“The 2025 FIA WEC calendar is a continuity of 2024, with eight rounds scheduled on the world’s most famous circuits,” added Pierre Fillon, President of the Automobile Club de l’Ouest.

“This season is about stability and exposure in key geographical areas. 2023 was exceptional, 2024 outstanding. In 2025, we shall reach new heights, notably with Aston Martin joining Hypercar. See you next year for another amazing episode in motorsport history!”

There are two notable clashes with the 2025 IMSA calendar:

WEC’s Spa May 10 race, is on the same weekend as IMSA’s WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca event, their Weathertech Sportscar Championship race on 11 May.

The 2024 clash between WEC’s 6 Hours of Sao Paulo and IMSA’s cross-border outing at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park is repeated ins 2025, both races set to take place on July 13.
