Era Motorsport has confirmed that British Gentleman driver Stuart Wiltshire will join Ryan Dalziel for the Canadian round of IMSA’s Weathertech Sportscar Championship next weekend at CTMP and will also run with the squad at Road America next month.
The CTMP event will mark Wiltshire’s contemporary competitive debut in LMP2 after testing 2 years ago with APR and then experience in the IMSA-spec Era Motorsport Oreca 07 LMP2 last year at the Historic Sportscar Racing Daytona Classic where he raced alongside the team’s usual bronze driver, Dwight Merriman.
Merriman is set to step away from his LMP2 programme with a new project to be announced later this year.
Wiltshire meanwhile has race experience in the UK’s the MSV F3 Cup where he has scored podium finishes, and in ‘post-historic’ prototypes including a Peugeot 90X LMP1 car, and most recently, an Acura ARX-05 which is run out of the Era Motorsport US Workshop.
Wiltshire also got experience in the IMSA-spec Era Motorsport Oreca 07 LMP2 last year at the Historic Sportscar Racing Daytona Classic where he raced alongside the team’s usual bronze driver, Dwight Merriman.
In addition to the upcoming race at CTMP July 12-14, Wiltshire will be in the car for the IMSA SportsCar Weekend at Road America August 2-4.
Wiltshire tested last week at CTMP with the team:

“After getting a few years of experience driving prototypes, I’ve gotten quite comfortable behind the wheel, and I can’t wait to see how things stack up once we get on track for FP1.”
“After the test, I feel great in the car, and I’m confident with the pace I have. The biggest difference for me will be the longer stints in IMSA as opposed to the 45-minute drive times I’m used to in historic racing.”

With back-to-back wins at Daytona and Sebring to start the season, Era Motorsport currently sits second in the LMP2 Championship, just eight points behind first place.
But with Merriman stepping away Era is seeking a new Bronze driver for the 2025 season, and is looking beyond IMSA for their potential programmes.
The team has several Oreca 07 LMP2 cars ready to race, and has made it clear that, in addition to IMSA they are keen to examine potential programmes in the Asian Le Mans Series and European Le Mans Series.

Era Motorsport entered the world of LMP2 racing in 2020 with a part-time season in IMSA, which included a debut podium at their first race, the Rolex 24 at Daytona. The team followed up this success with a podium finish at Sebring, Road America, and Road Atlanta that same year.
The team competed, together with IDEC Sport, in the 2020 24 hours of Le Mans, finishing 11th despite starting an entire lap down after an incident in practice.
In 2021 the team expanded to the Asian Le Mans Series LMP2 Am Class where they won the championship in partnership with JOTA Sport. 2021 also brought the team to four European Le Mans Series races in the LMP2 Pro-Am class, again in partnership with IDEC Sport.
In the years since, Era Motorsport has been refining its craft and perfecting its team while competing full-time in the IMSA Weathertech Sportscar Championship’s LMP2 Class which continues to see growth year after year.
Most recently they won their second Rolex 24 at Daytona at the beginning of the 2024 season, followed by another victory at the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring.
