Christian Ried Returns To The Cockpit At Interlagos

One-Off appearance in #88 Ford Mustang

Christian Ried will return to the cockpit “one more time” for this weekend’s race at Interlagos, replacing Bronze-ranked Giorgio Roda in the #88 Ford Mustang GT3.

The absence of the Italian, who raced for the team in LMP2 last weekend at Imola has not been explained but a team statement makes it clear that Ried’s drive is a one-off:

“I can’t wait to stand in for Giorgio in São Paulo, but it will be a one-time thing. The races at Spa and Le Mans proved that we’re capable of making up ground on our strong competitors. And not just in LMGT3, where we took our first podium with the Mustang GT3 alongside our new partner Ford.”

Ried stood down officially at the end of the 2023 season after 85 consecutive race appearances, from the very start of the FIA WEC in 2012.

Interlagos then will be his 86th, still a record, and his first both in an LM GT3 and in anything other than a Porsche. He’ll share the #88 Mustang with full season drivers Dennis Olsen and Mikkel Pedersen.
