SRO has published a provisional entry list for the fifth annual Indianapolis 8 Hour presented by AWS, the final round of both the Intercontinental GT Challenge and Fanatec GT World Challenge America series.
25 cars are entered, representing six manufacturers across four classes. 16 entries have competed either full-time or part-time in GT World Challenge America this season, while the other nine appear as guest entries.
All teams representing BMW, Mercedes-AMG, and Porsche will be nominated to score points towards the IGTC Manufacturers’ Championship – which is currently led by Porsche on 99 points, ahead of BMW by 16 points and Mercedes-AMG by 25. Points will be earned by each make’s top two finishers. It will also be the first IGTC appearance for the new Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R.
Four teams will likely fight for overall honours in the IGTC Pro category. Defending race winners Team WRT return with two BMW M4 GT3s, and representing Mercedes-AMG are Team GruppeM Racing from Hong Kong and Lone Star Racing. Lone Star Racing has been a regular presence in the Indy 8 Hour, preparing cars for Craft-Bamboo Racing in previous years – but this year they’ll race under their own banner.
The five entries in the ‘FGTWC Pro’ class are all regulars from GT World Challenge America: Wright Motorsports (#120 Porsche), DXDT Racing (#63 Corvette), ST Racing (#28 BMW), Random Vandals Racing (#99 BMW), and the sole Acura NSX GT3 in the field from Racers Edge Motorsports.
FGTWC Pro requires at least one Silver-graded driver in each team’s three-driver lineups, while the IGTC Pro class allows for unrestricted driver selection similar to other IGTC events.
The other 16 entries are in a massive Pro-Am field, which requires at least one Bronze driver and one Silver, or two Bronze drivers.
Porsche is represented by Herberth Motorsport, Car Collection Motorsport, and EBM who’ve come from abroad to join GT World Challenge America regulars such as GMG Racing, RS1, and MMG (Montreal Motorsport Group).
SunEnergy1 and Triple Eight JMR will boost Mercedes-AMG’s Pro-Am participation alongside Regulator Racing and Chouest Povoledo Racing. BMW has three Pro-Am entries from Flying Lizard Motorsports, ST Racing, and Turner Motorsport.
The Pro-Am field is completed by two Ferrari 296 GT3s from AF Corse USA, and DXDT Racing’s #64 Corvette.
