PR1 Mathiasen Motorsports has announced a revamped driver line-up for the 2025 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season.
Last year, PR1 Mathiasen collaborated with Inter Europol Competition on a joint LMP2 entry. Nick Boulle and Tom Dillmann captured the IMSA LMP2 Championship, while Boulle secured an automatic invitation to the 2025 24 Hours of Le Mans by winning the Jim Trueman Award as the top-ranked Bronze driver in LMP2.
With Inter Europol forming its own, independently-operated LMP2 team from 2025, PR1 Mathiasen has called upon a cast of experienced drivers to defend its championships and share the #52 ORECA 07-Gibson. PR1 Mathiasen has won five of the last six LMP2 Drivers’ and Teams’ Championships since 2019, along with three straight Michelin Endurance Cup titles from 2020–2022.
The full-season pairing consists of Mexican-American driver Rodrigo Sales and his Swiss counterpart, Mathias Beche. It is Sales’ first full season of IMSA competition, having run only three races across LMP2 and LMP3 while devoting his attention to competing in the European and Asian Le Mans Series.
Sales won the 2022 Asian Le Mans Series LMP2 Championship with Nielsen Racing and has made four starts at Le Mans. In 2024, he and Beche shared the Richard Mille by TDS Racing entry in the European Le Mans Series, taking two LMP2 Pro-Am class victories at Le Castellet and Mugello.
Beche has raced alongside Sales in Europe since 2023. The Swiss veteran will make his first IMSA appearance since 2017, and has previous championship experience including the 2012 European Le Mans Series LMP2 title. Beche also took overall victory in the 2018 FIA WEC 6 Hours of Silverstone, driving the Rebellion Racing R13.
Danish-American driver Benjamin Pedersen will drive in the five-race Michelin Endurance Cup after running three European Le Mans Series races for Nielsen Racing last year. Pedersen, 25, was the 2019 Formula Regional Americas Championship runner-up, a race winner in the Indy Lights (currently Indy NXT) Series and raced full-time in IndyCar during the 2023 season.
Completing the four-driver line-up at the 63rd annual Rolex 24 at Daytona is a legend at PR1 Mathiasen Motorsports: Ben Keating returns to the team after spending last season at United Autosports USA.
Keating won two IMSA LMP2 Championships (2021, 2023) and back-to-back Michelin Endurance Cups (2022–2023) with PR1 Mathiasen Motorsports, and has captured the LMP2 pole position at Daytona for the last five years in a row. Yet in 14 previous starts dating back to 2011, the charismatic Texan has yet to win the race.
In the team’s announcement, PR1 Mathiasen has told fans to ‘stay tuned’ for a livery unveil ahead of the Rolex 24 at Daytona on 25/26 January.
