AO Racing has revealed the driver crew for its 2025 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship LMP2 campaign, signing up 2024 IMSA GTP Drivers’ Champion and Rolex 24 Hours winner Dane Cameron to partner PJ Hyett for the season aboard its ‘Spike’ liveried ORECA 07.
The duo will be joined by 2024 ELMS LMP2 champion Jonny Edgar (below, middle), who spent this year racing with sister team AO by TF, for the Michelin Endurance Cup and reigning Rolex 24 at Daytona class winner Christian Rasmussen for the Rolex 24 next month.
“We’ve been putting a lot of effort into elevating the level of competitiveness of our LMP2 programme these last few months,” said team principal Gunnar Jeannette.
“To have the reigning IMSA and ELMS champions joining us along with another Daytona winner from last year is very special. I can’t wait to see what PJ, Dane, Jonny, and Christian can accomplish in Spike at Daytona and for the 2025 season.”
In 2025 AO Racing looks to build on a strong foundation after Hyett scored four pole positions in seven races during the 2024 season. The team hopes to take the next step next term with the addition of Cameron, Edgar and Rasmussen by claiming a first win and fighting for a title.
“I am excited to join AO Racing and Spike in 2025,” said Cameron (below, left), who despite his standout 2024 campaign in GTP was released by Porsche Penske Motorsport at the end of the 2024 season.
“I think that PJ and Gunnar are creating something really special with Spike and Rexy, making new sportscar fans every race. LMP2 looks to be extremely competitive but we have a great line-up and everything we need to succeed this season. The goal is to bring PJ and Spike their first IMSA wins and championship.”
The 2025 LMP2 Championship calendar mirrors that of 2024, kicking off with the Rolex 24 At Daytona on January 25-26.
