WEC Champions Celebrated At FIA Awards

The 2024 FIA WEC champions were celebrated last night at the annual end-of-season FIA Awards gala, which was held for the first time ever on the African continent in Kigali, Rwanda.

In the presence of FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem and Paul Kagame, the President of Rwanda, 2024’s FIA Champions were crowned at the BK Arena in the Rwandan capital, with the event hosted by the Rwandan Automobile Club.

Toyota proved to be the most decorated manufacturer of the night, with Toyota Gazoo Racing capturing the FIA Hypercar World Endurance Championship, FIA World Rally Manufacturers Championship and FIA World Rally-Raid honours in 2024.

Kamui Kobayashi and Nyck De Vries were both present and took to the stage along with the #7 GR010 HYBRID.

In addition, Porsche Penske Motorsport’s FIA Hypercar World Endurance Champion drivers: Kevin Estre, Andre Lotterer and Laurens Vanthoor (below), were also honoured for their standout WEC campaign with the 963 alongside six-time Le Mans winner Jacky Ickx.

Elsewhere in the world of sportscar and GT racing, the three Le Mans-winning Ferrari AF Corse drivers – Antonio Fuoco, Nicklas Nielsen and Miguel Molina – made the trip and took to the stage for the champions photocall on stage (featured).
