TWG Global has officially announced the launch of TWG Motorsports, a new division of the holding company created “to bring together a portfolio of leading motorsports organizations to drive competitive excellence, ingenuity, and commercial innovation across the globe, with the aim of challenging at the very top of the sport.”
Pertinent to readers of Dailysportscar is that IMSA’s Wayne Taylor Racing (WTR) is one of five motorsports organisations included in the launch of TWG Motorsports, which was established in late 2024 by TWG Global co-chairs, Mark Walter and Thomas Tull.
The new division also includes Andretti Global, which had partnered with WTR from 2023 to 2024 before separating in the offseason. Andretti Global will represent TWG Motorsports in IndyCar, Indy NXT, and the FIA Formula E World Championship – though former CEO Michael Andretti will no longer be involved with the company.
The inbound Cadillac Formula 1 Team, NASCAR Cup and Truck Series outfit Spire Motorsports, and Australian Supercars squad Walkinshaw Andretti United (WAU) complete the current TWG Motorsports portfolio.
Dan Towriss, a longtime partner of Mark Walter, will lead TWG Motorsports as CEO.
“With a combination of operational excellence, technology and innovation, TWG Motorsports has the opportunity to drive true transformation in racing, set new standards for the industry and build a legacy of success across the globe,’’ said Towriss, who is also the CEO of Group 1001 Insurance – an American financial services company which currently holds over $66 billion in assets.
“Dan has been instrumental in forming the landmark Cadillac Formula 1 team in partnership with General Motors and acquiring for TWG Global a broad racing portfolio that includes Andretti Global, Wayne Taylor Racing, and Spire Motorsports,” said Walter.
“We’re excited to see these teams united under the TWG Motorsports umbrella and Dan’s leadership,’’ Tull added.
TWG Motorsports’ establishment continues a history of investment across other major sports. TWG Global’s sports portfolio also includes Chelsea Football Club, the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL), and stakes in the NBA’s Los Angeles Lakers and WNBA’s Los Angeles Sparks, among other properties.
