AKF Lamborghini Confirmed
AKF Motorsport has confirmed the team’s first full-season GT2 European Series powered by Pirelli entry, with Oliver Freymuth set to fight for Am class honours in a Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo Evo GT2.
Both team and driver already boast a race-winning GT2 pedigree, having claimed Am class honours during a one-off outing at Hockenheim in 2021, the inaugural year of the series. Now that winning combination is back for a full-time attack on the Am title.
Founded in 1986, AKF Motorsport brings experience from nearly four decades of sportscar and GT racing. More recently, the German outfit has established itself as a regular feature of Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe and Freymuth has been the team’s star charge since 2018.
Making the move to GT2 Europe, Freymuth fields the AKF Motorsport Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo Evo GT2 as a solo driver entry. The 64-year-old German driver will contest all six double-header race events, held in support of GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS.
The GT2 European Series powered by Pirelli season gets underway at Circuit Paul Ricard, France, 11-13 April.
TFT Confirm Maserati Return
Race-winning outfit TFT Racing has confirmed its second GT2 European Series powered by Pirelli term, with Patrick Charlaix and Jordan Boisson forming an Am class partnership in the Maserati GT2.
The French squad enjoyed much success during its maiden GT2 campaign last year. Two class wins for Alexandre Leroy – plus an outright pole position at Spa-Francorchamps – propelled TFT Racing to a top-three finish in both the Am Drivers’ and Teams’ standings.
Buoyed on by those strong performances, the team is now eyeing a push at the Am class titles with a new driver line-up, utilising the proven Maserati GT2 once more.
Canadian Charlaix first joined TFT Racing back in 2022 as part of its Porsche Carrera Cup France stable, before stepping into longer-format competition most recently with outings in the 24H Series Middle East Trophy.
It was in the latter where he first partnered with French compatriot Boisson come the start of the year, both taking a strong fifth place finish in a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup machine at Dubai Autodrome. Prior to that, Boisson also boasts Carrera Cup experience with the team.
Making the jump to GT2 Europe, the pair will contest all six double-header race events, held in support of GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS.
Dinamic Return With Maserati Effort
DINAMIC Motorsport returns to the GT2 European Series powered by Pirelli grid for a full season campaign, with Roberto Pampanini and Mauro Calamia maintained to spearhead the Maserati squad’s Pro-Am challenge.
The Italian outfit joined GT2 Europe for its series debut on home soil at Monza last term. Success soon followed, with Pampanini and Calamia fighting through the field to clinch the team’s maiden race victory at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya the following round.
After an eye-catching initiation, DINAMIC Motorsport now commits to the full six-round calendar with an unchanged car and driver line-up, and eyes firmly set on the Pro-Am title.
In addition to their GT2 Europe success, Italian Pampanini and Swiss team-mate Calamia are an already proven partnership. They achieved Gulf 12 Hours podium results in 2016 and 2018, and both bring GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup experience to the GT2 field.
For Calamia, the move to GT2 completes the trio of SRO series, having competed in the 2014 GT4 European Series.
DINAMIC is also a familiar name from GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS. Maurizio Lusuardi’s team won its maiden event at Monza in 2019 and went on to claim further victories at the Nürburgring (2020), Monza again (2021) and at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya (2022). The outfit now looks to add GT2 Europe titles to its roster.
