SRO Motorsports Group has announced a partnership with the Thailand Super Series (TSS, operating as ‘The Super Series’) that will expand SRO’s portfolio further into the Asian market.
TSS, which features a wide range of racing categories headlined by GT3 and GT4 cars, will adopt SRO’s Balance of Performance regulations for both GT3 and GT4. Pirelli, which is the sole supplier of tyres to SRO championships around the world, will also be the sole supplier for TSS – giving them the same tyres used in GT World Challenge powered by AWS championships.
The Super Series’ calendar consists of five events in Thailand and Malaysia, beginning on 22-25 May at Chang International Circuit in Buriram. The series will travel to the beautiful and treacherous Bangsaen Grand Prix on 2-6 July, followed by two events in Sepang (8-10 August and 19-21 September), and the finale at Chang (31 October-2 November)
In recent years, several top GT3 drivers from the West including Earl Bamber, Edoardo Mortara, and Markus Winkelhock have raced in TSS – and this year, newer cars like the Ferrari 296 GT3 and Porsche 992 GT3 R are set to make their series debuts. Races are broadcast in four different languages (Thai, English, Chinese, German) and have traditionally been available to watch for free on YouTube.
SRO’s partnership with TSS puts them in the same portfolio as GT World Challenge Asia, Japan Cup, and the new SRO GT Cup in China. SRO also has partnerships with the ACO in overseeing the Asian Le Mans Series’ GT class, and with the FIA in organising the GT World Cup in Macau.
“I am very happy to begin this new partnership with TSS The Super Series,” said SRO Founder, CEO, and namesake Stephane Ratel. “SRO has made great strides in Asia over the past decade and this agreement further solidifies our position. We are delighted that TSS will adopt our Balance of Performance regulations, and it is very pleasing to see them forge a partnership with Pirelli, with whom SRO has worked closely for many years. I am sure that this marks the start of an exciting phase of development for TSS The Super Series.”
TSS President Sontaya Kumplome added: “Partnering with SRO marks a significant milestone for TSS The Super Series. While TSS is already established at an international level, this collaboration strengthens our competitive platform through SRO’s global standards, technical expertise, and proven Balance of Performance system, along with the Pirelli partnership. Moreover, this partnership opens exciting opportunities for regional talent to thrive globally.
“Together, SRO and TSS will also collaborate to organise and further develop motorsport across the Southeast Asia region, fostering growth and elevating the sport throughout the area.”
