AWA has revealed its livery for this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans. The Canadian team has traded the traditional black and golden-yellow look of its #13 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 LMGT3.R for a bold bright red and white livery to honour the team’s Canadian heritage.
“AWA’s special livery is a symbol of their hometown roots, national pride, in addition to serving a celebration of Canadian motorsport excellence on a global stage,” as the team wrote in its press release issued today.
“This is more than just a race for us; it’s an opportunity to represent our country in front of the world,” said Orey Fidani, AWA driver and recipient of the 2024 IMSA Bob Akin Award, given to the top Bronze-rated driver in last year’s GTD category. “Wearing Canada’s colours at Le Mans is an incredible honour, and we’ll be pushing hard to make our fellow Canadians proud. There will be no feeling quite like seeing that maple leaf drive down the Mulsanne Straight at over 300 km/h.”
Fidani, who received an automatic invitation to Le Mans as the prize for winning the Bob Akin Award, will be joined by his longtime AWA teammates, Matt Bell and Lars Kern. Together, they won the GTD class in this year’s Rolex 24 At Daytona in January, the first IMSA GTD victory for the new Corvette GT3 platform.
Last year, Fidani and Kern entered the Michelin Le Mans Cup Road To Le Mans event to gain valuable track experience at the legendary Circuit de la Sarthe. Bell, meanwhile, is gearing up for his third Le Mans 24 Hours start and first in the LMGT3 category. He finished second in LMP2 Pro-Am in 2022, driving for Nielsen Racing.
AWA will be supported at Le Mans by TF Sport, the UK-based team that gave the Corvette Z06 LMGT3.R its first win in the FIA World Endurance Championship in Qatar this February – and has also won its class at Le Mans in 2020 and 2022.
