Privateer Ferrari 499P Set To Return To FIA WEC In 2026

Global Head of Ferrari Endurance & Corse Clienti Antonello Coletta has confirmed to DSC that 2026 will, subject to the entry being accepted, again see a third, privately entered, Ferrari 499P Hypercar join a returning factory effort in the FIA World Endurance Championship.

In a media round-table at Ferrari’s Fiorano base for their Corse Clienti operations, Coletta outlined the value to the Ferrari 499P programme of the privateer case and reiterated that the entry is only possible if AF Corse can gather the required sponsorship revenue to field the car. That though appears to be confirmed for next season already.

A return in 2026 would be the third season for the car, currently numbered #83, in what looks set to be a growing field of Hypercars with the Genesis Magma Racing team set to join next season with a pair of GMR 001 LMDH Hypercars.

The car, crewed in 2025 by Robert Kubica, Ferrari factory driver Ye Yifei and Phil Hanson, was debuted in 2024, taking an overall win at CoTA (pictured top), with Kubica and Ye joined by full-season team-mate Robert Shwartzman who departed post season to take up an Indycar seat with Prema Racing.

Coletta paused in his answers to media to pass on his best wishes to the Russian/ Israeli racer who set pole position for the Indy 500 yesterday, only the third Rookie in the history of the race to do so!
