6H São Paulo: Friday Paddock Notes

News and notes from practice day in Brazil...

WEC TV graphics receive major revamp

FP3’s regular free-to-view YouTube broadcast tomorrow will give viewers their first chance to see a completely new set of TV graphics for the WEC TV app and the international TV feed.

“Our mission was to find creative ways to rationalise and expand our race graphics,” explains FIA WEC Communication and Marketing Director, Marius Louvet. “The racing in the championship is arguably the best it has ever been, and we were conscious we needed to update and enhance the viewing experience by providing as much information as possible to truly tell the story of the season.

“The FIA World Endurance Championship is in the midst of a real golden era right now, with more manufacturer involvement and support than ever before. We are – quite rightly – constantly challenged by all of our competitors and fans to ensure that what we are offering is cutting-edge in every area, and our new broadcast graphics ensure a premium and enriched experience for all involved. We hope everybody will enjoy them!”

Boguslavsiky expected to return to WRT later in season

WRT team principal Vincent Vosse says that Silver-ranked racer Timur Boguslavskiy is expected to return to the team later this season, following his late withdrawal from the 6 Hours of São Paulo.

While there is no confirmation yet of when he will next be seen racing the #31 Bend WRT BMW M4 GT3 EVO, Vosse is hopeful he’ll be back sooner rather than later.

“Timur’s management are here, they sent us an email at the beginning of the week and said they needed to speak urgently, because he has pneumonia or something like that,” he said. “They asked us to find a solution, which we did, and I expect him to be back.”

The said solution is Brazilian racer Pedro Ebrahim, who made his on-track WEC debut today in practice for the team.

GT’s on support duty for WEC at Interlagos

The support races this weekend come from GT Series Cup Brasil – a selection of 14 GT4 and GT3 cars on track for a pair of races alongside the FIA WEC.

More later on a very interesting car on display in their paddock!

Fanzone fantasy

The very extensive fanzone was coming together yesterday, but already in place was a wonderful selection of historic road and race cars. It’s been a real pleasure to see some very different vehicles when visiting this part of the world with its standalone cast culture.

It includes a VERY rare (only 18 built) Hofstetter Turbo on the more ‘exotic’ end of the scale.

And a very well-used example of the Brazil-only VW Gol (not a typo!) too.

Amongst the competition cars, there were some examples with plenty of ‘patina including a super rare Auto Union.

And a purportedly well-driven VW Karmann Ghia!

But the highlight of the display, undoubtedly, is an immaculate Plymouth Roadrunner Superbird!
