Le Mans Cup Season Resumes With 43-Car Grid For Spa

The Le Mans Cup returns to action this weekend after a two-month summer break, with the fourth round of the 2025 season taking place at Spa-Francorchamps on Saturday in support of the European Le Mans Series.

A 43-car grid has been confirmed for the first event since the somewhat chaotic Road To Le Mans contests on the Circuit de la Sarthe ahead of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

86 drivers across 28 teams will represent 22 nations in the Ardennes, including two Belgian racers and one home-grown team eager to shine in front of a passionate local crowd.

Eighteen cars will contest the LMP3 category, where CLX Motorsport currently occupies the top two places in the championship. The #87 Ligier of Alvise Rodella and Pierre-Alexandre Provost heads to Spa with a four-point cushion over teammates David Droux and Cedric Oltramare in the #97 entry.

Fresh off a double podium at Le Mans, Hugo Schwarze and Hadrien David have vaulted the #85 R-ace GP Duqueine into third on 38 points, just ahead of Léna Bühler and Matteo Quintarelli, who are looking to build on their Road to Le Mans race win in the #50 23Events Racing Ligier.

There are several driver changes in the LMP3 field. Sebastien Gravlund replaces Sacha Lehmann at Team Virage (#16), while Dan Skocdopole joins Haydn Chance in the #26 Bretton Racing Ligier. American Danny Soufi will step into the #70 Gebhardt Motorsport Duqueine, with Antoine Doquin linking up with Edgar Pierre in the #86 R-ace GP Duqueine.

The Pro-Am field has expanded to 17 entries with Team Virage introducing a new #44 Ligier for Polish driver Jacek Zielonka and Swiss racer Grégory De Sybourg.

Rinaldi Racing’s Stefan Aust and Felipe Fernandez-Laser arrive in Belgium with a commanding 28-point lead after a double podium, including victory in Race 1 at Le Mans. The #71 Ligier-Toyota now sits on 63 points, well clear of Julien Lemoine and Fabien Lavergne (#84 ANS Motorsport Ligier) on 35 points. Belgian fans will also keep a close eye on Motorsport98’s Eric De Doncker, who partners Gillian Henrion on home soil.

Driver changes feature heavily in Pro-Am, with Racing Spirit of Léman introducing a German pairing of Christian Gisy and Ralf Kelleners in the #10 Ligier. Shahan Sarkissian rejoins Kevin Rabin at CD Sport (#31), Griffin Peebles teams up again with Steve Parrow at Rinaldi Racing (#66), and Tim Creswick joins Bijoy Garg at Inter Europol Competition (#34).

The GT3 field will see eight entries compete in the Spa round. AF Corse’s Alessandro Cozzi and Eliseo Donno lead the standings in the #51 Ferrari 296 GT3 after a strong Le Mans weekend, just two points clear of Philipp Sager and Rory Van Der Steur in the #11 Code Racing Development Aston Martin.

Local interest is firmly focused on the #83 Iron Dames Porsche as Vanina Ickx makes her long-awaited return alongside Marta Garcia Lopez. Ickx, who missed Road to Le Mans through illness, is aiming to add to the duo’s season-best fourth place at Le Castellet.

Italian driver Sabino Marco De Castro will join Ebimotors for the remainder of the season, replacing Sergiu Nicolae in the #95 Porsche. The GT3 grid is completed by two Kessel Racing Ferrari 296s, the Team Motopark Mercedes-AMG, and Biogas Motorsport’s Ferrari.

Qualifying and the race will both take place on Saturday, with the two-hour encounter set to begin at 15:55 local time. It can be streamed for free on the Le Mans Cup YouTube channel.
