Tsunami RT Double Up For Season Finale

Porsche outfit Tsunami RT will expand to two cars for next weekend’s International GT Open finale at the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza, Italy.

Alex Fontana and Bashar Mardini will share the #89 Porsche 911 GT3 R (992) in the Pro-Am class for the Sanmarinese team, racing alongside its existing #79 Porsche of Johannes Zelger and Fabio Babini. Fontana contested the opening five rounds of this season’s GT Open in a Car Collection Motorsport-fielded 911 GT3 R, whilst Mardini’s most recent start in the series came last year, also for Car Collection.

In 2025, Mardini has focused on racing in the GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup with Lionspeed GP. Mardini and Bastian Buus ended the season as runners-up in the Bronze Cup, with three race victories. Canadian-Emirati driver Mardini is no stranger to the Tsunami RT setup, having ran with the team in Porsche Carrera Cup France in 2023.

The final round of the 2025 International GT Open will be held at Monza from 17th to 19th October, using the series’ single-race 500km format.

“We are very happy to have two cars in the international scene,” commented Team Principal Valerio Speziali. “Alongside our full season car of Zelger-Babini, we’re bringing a second GT3R to the GT Open grid as welcoming back Bashar Mardini and Alex Fontana to the team. What a fantastic quartet!”
