SRO Expands GT Academy

SRO has announced a significant expansion of its GT Academy for 2026, with the addition of four new contests.

Four drivers, one each from British GT and GT World Challenge’s American, Asian and Australian series, will win a seat at the 2027 24 Hours of Spa, with the quartet sharing an entry fielded by an accomplished team.

The competition is open to drivers aged under 30 on 31st December 2026, who are categorised Silver by the FIA.

Rather than by race results, they will be scored based on a criteria which considers factors such as qualifying pace, average stint time and off-track behaviour, allowing drivers in different classes, and with different co-drivers, to compete on a level playing field.

The SRO GT Academy was first launched ahead of this season, and focused on the FFSA French GT Championship. Gaspard Simon, the inaugural winner, has received €150,000 towards a drive in either the GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup or GT2 European Series next year.

The FFSA French GT competition will continue for 2026, alongside the new regional contests, and one focused on the GT2 European Series.

The winner of the GT2 European Series competition will win a drive in the full 2027 GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup, meaning they will compete against the regional winners at the 24 Hours of Spa.

“I am very pleased to announce the expansion of the SRO GT Academy to include a prize seat at the 2027 CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa,” said SRO Motorsports Group Founder Stéphane Ratel.

“Our initial efforts have focussed on European series, so it is fantastic to extend this opportunity to the many Silver drivers competing in GT World Challenge America, Asia and Australia, while also adding British GT to the programme. The prospect of a crew composed of the best young talents from around the globe is extremely exciting and I look forward to watching it take shape over the course of 2026.”
