Gedlich Racing has announced plans to organise the inaugural GT Summer Series this year, in an expansion of its successful Winter Series formula.
The GT Summer Series will take place across five rounds, as part of the ADAC Racing Weekend package. As is the case with the GT Winter Series, GT2, GT3 and one-make GT machinery will all be eligible, as well as any other GT cars which meet the performance window.
“We are extremely grateful to the ADAC for integrating the GT Summer Series into its Racing Weekend calendar from the very beginning and for recognising the series as a valuable addition to its existing championships,” said Gedlich Managing Director Robin Selbach.
Although professional drivers will be permitted to compete in the GT Summer Series, the emphasis is on amateurs. As such, the series will implement driver-specific Balance of Performance, with Ams given a faster performance baseline.
Series organiser Stefan Leher explained: “Six years of Winter Series experience have given us a very clear understanding of what amateur drivers want. With the Summer Series, we are taking this concept even further by introducing entirely new ideas – including a driver-specific Balance of Performance that takes the driver’s status into account.
“What matters most to us is respectful, fair and authentic racing. The amateur driver is our priority. We create racing for successful individuals who are firmly grounded in life and pursue motorsport purely out of passion – just like we do ourselves.”
Whilst its Winter Series is held in Iberia, through the ADAC tie-up Gedlich’s Summer Series will be based in Germany, with four German venues joining a trip to Spa-Francorchamps on the 2026 calendar.
2026 GT Summer Series Calendar:
- R1: Hockenhiemring, 17th to 19th April
- R2: Oschersleben, 29th to 31st May
- R3: Nürburgring, 25th to 28th June
- R4: Spa-Francorchamps, 27th to 30th August
- R5: Hockenhiemring, 2nd to 4th October
