Griffin & Cameron Make Barwell Switch

Longtime teammates Duncan Cameron and Matt Griffin have switched to Barwell Motorsport for the 2026 British GT Championship season.

The multiple-race winners are the first driver line-up to be confirmed for Barwell’s planned three-pronged British GT attack with the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2.

Griffin’s initial dealings with Barwell date back to 2006 during negotiations to drive one of their first Aston Martin DBRS9 GT3s.

Since their first British GT campaign together back in 2009, the pair have taken six victories together so far in Maranello machinery.

They returned to British GT last year in a Ferrari 296 GT3, with 2003 GTC class champion Griffin chasing his 15th race victory. In 2026, though, they’ll represent the Sant’Agata brand.

Griffin said: “We felt the time was right to make a change for this season in British GT, and when you go looking for a top team, you don’t have to search much further than Barwell Motorsport.

“You only have to look at their record in British GT to know they’re one of, if not the most successful team in the championship’s history, so it should be the perfect environment for Duncan and me.

“While we’ll still be competing in Europe with Ferrari, I’m hugely excited to get to grips with the Lamborghini.

“Both cars are mid-engined, so the dynamics shouldn’t be too different, and I’m looking forward to racing with a naturally aspirated engine again, which I’ve always felt was a strength for me.

“You don’t have to worry about keeping turbos spooling or dropping out of torque bands… It’s a pure driving experience with that wonderful V10.

“We’ve got several tests booked pre-season to help us adapt, and being part of a three-car team with open data sharing should also be a great help.

“I can’t wait to get going, and I’d also like to say thanks to AF Corse for allowing me to be a part of this programme in British GT.”

Across various major championship commitments, Cameron has taken on the FIA WEC, European Le Mans Series, and five starts at the Le Mans 24 Hours, compared to Griffin’s 11 starts.

“I was very keen to get back to British GT for this year as my son, Henry, will be competing in Ginetta Junior on the same package,” said Cameron.

“Eventually, we’d love to race together in GTs, so it makes sense for us both to be competing on the same weekends.

“When we looked at options for this year, it made sense to switch, and when the chance to join Barwell Motorsport came up, it was a no-brainer.

“I’ve yet to experience the Lamborghini Huracan, but across the years, it’s been a very competitive package at pretty much every track.

“I know with the support of Matt and the Barwell team, I’ll learn quickly, and I’m looking forward to a really competitive year ahead.”

Barwell team principal Mark Lemmer added: “This is going to be a big season for us, on many levels, and confirming a partnership as strong and experienced as Duncan and Matt is a great way to start.

“As driver pairings go, it’s hard to find a more enduring partnership than theirs.

“They have competed at the very highest levels together for many years and know each other’s skills inside out.

“They work incredibly well together, so I have no doubt they’ll adapt very quickly to the Lamborghini, and we’re looking forward to seeing what they can achieve this year.

“With this being the final year running the Huracan in top-flight competition – a car we’ve had unprecedented success with – the time is right to expand the effort to three cars.

“Alongside this enhanced British GT commitment, we’ve also launched our GT3 Heritage division to race in classic GT3 series across Europe, so it’s going to be a big season at home and abroad.

“We can’t wait to get started.”
