The GT Association (GTA) has revealed the entry list for the 2026 Autobacs SUPER GT Series, featuring a capacity grid of 43 cars.

While the loss of one Nissan Z NISMO GT500 brings the car count in the premier GT500 class down to just 14 cars, the GT300 grid has grown to 29 cars to offset the change in the top category.
All 28 GT500 drivers have been confirmed for several months at Toyota, Honda, and Nissan – though today’s publication reveals a few other noteworthy details.
First, TGR Team au TOM’S has confirmed that it will not use the number 1 reserved for the reigning GT500 Champion drivers and team after all – instead, electing to keep the team’s traditional number 36. This is despite the fact that Sho Tsuboi and Kenta Yamashita have stayed together at TOM’S to defend their titles, a condition that has often been used to determine if TOM’S would use the number 1 or not.
There are a couple of new Team Director appointments for 2026. Two-time GT500 Champion Tsugio Matsuda has already been confirmed as NISMO’s Team Director after retiring from driving duties this off-season.
This is also the case for another recently-retired legend, Honda’s Takuya Izawa. Izawa has been named as Modulo Nakajima Racing’s new Team Director, taking over the role from Team Owner and General Manager Satoru Nakajima. He has already served as Nakajima Racing’s Team Principal in the Super Formula Championship since 2023.
And the “Drift King” Keiichi Tsuchiya, who has been an Executive Advisor at ARTA and the de facto director of its former GT300 efforts for over two decades, will now be the Team Director for the #16 ARTA Mugen Honda HRC Prelude-GT.
In the final year of multi-make tyre competition in SUPER GT, 12 of the 14 teams in GT500 will use Bridgestone Potenza tyres. Modulo Nakajima Racing will use Dunlop Direzza tyres, and TGR Team WedsSport Bandoh will use Yokohama Advan tyres.

The GT300 grid features 10 makes and 14 unique vehicle models – including the return of BMW and the M4 GT3 EVO, plus new evolutions of the Ferrari 296 GT3 and Porsche 911 GT3 R. 17 of the 29 cars will use Yokohama tyres, six will use Bridgestones, four will use Dunlops, and two will use Michelin Pilot Sport tyres exclusive to the GT300 category.
GT300’s newest team to join the grid is Team Eneos ROOKIE, entering the #32 Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO driven by 2007 GT300 Champion Hiroaki Ishiura and rookie Tokiya Suzuki. The #32 Eneos X Prime AMG GT3 will sport a similar livery to its GT500 counterpart, with Bridgestone tyres.
Some new and familiar drivers have been revealed. One change of note is at Velorex (the former Team LeMans), where young German driver Niklas Krütten returns to SUPER GT after a year away. Krütten, who made his debut in 2024 with BMW M Team Studie, will join Yoshiaki Katayama in the #6 Ferrari 296 GT3 Evo, replacing Roberto Merhi.
PONOS Racing has retained both Kei Cozzolino and Takuro Shinohara as its drivers for the #45 Ferrari, but the team has changed tyre suppliers for the third year in a row, going from Dunlop to Yokohama tyres.
D’station Racing has announced that Tomonobu Fujii and Charlie Fagg will be back for their third season driving the #777 Aston Martin Vantage GT3 EVO. Perennial field-filler R’Qs Motor Sports returns with its four-driver rotation of Hisashi Wada (now the oldest driver in SUPER GT), Masaki Jyonai, Masaki Kano, and Yuma Shoji.
And alongside the 20 FIA GT3 cars and eight original GTA-GT300 regulation cars, the sole surviving GT300 Mother Chassis, the #5 Toyota (Dome) 86 MC of Team Mach, is returning to the grid for 2026. Yusuke Shiotsu has already been announced as one of the drivers of the 4.5L V8-powered MC86, but with Iori Kimura off to Kondo Racing, his co-driver has yet to be announced.
JLOC, meanwhile, has yet to announce its full driver line-up for 2026. As of today, Daniil Kvyat is the only driver confirmed so far in either of JLOC’s two Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2s.
Keep an eye on Porsche customer seven x seven Racing in the coming days: Porsche contracted driver Sven Müller is with the team at this week’s GT Entrants’ Association (GTE) test at Fuji Speedway, and an official announcement from the team confirming his return to SUPER GT for the first time since 2018 appears imminent. Currently, the #666 Porsche’s drivers are all “TBD”.
Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 customers Tomei Sports and NILZZ Racing also have unfilled seats ahead of the 2026 season.
